At Vortex Downloader, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our users. This Privacy Policy document contains types of information that is collected and recorded by Vortex Downloader and how we use it.
1. Local Processing (Zero Logging)
Vortex Downloader is a local client-side software application. All download requests, link extractions, and file assembly segments are processed entirely on your local machine. We do NOT run intermediate download servers, and we never collect, monitor, store, or log the URLs, video titles, file metadata, or media content that you download.
2. License Verification
When you register or activate a Monthly or Lifetime Pro license key inside the application settings, the software communicates with our secure licensing API to validate the license. During verification, we collect:
- Your license key code
- A secure, one-way cryptographically hashed hardware identifier (to ensure a license is only active on one device at a time)
This metadata is stored securely and is used solely for license verification and abuse prevention.
3. Remote Advertisements Cache
For Free tier users, the application fetches an ad configuration from our remote ads registry to render affiliate banners. This is a simple read-only GET request that does not pass any personal data or track your clicks. Clicking on an ad opens the link directly in your system’s default browser.
4. Direct Third-Party Connections
When downloading or streaming media from third-party hosting services (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo, direct file hosts), Vortex connects directly from your local computer to the source platform. Those host platforms process requests according to their respective privacy terms.
